Cardamom Seed

Cardamom Seed - spoon
(Cardamom Seed)  This is a photo of cardamom seed pods.  Cardamom is an expensive seasoning, second only to saffron, thus it is often adulterated.  This is why it's important to buy only pure Elettaria cardamomum.  We have found that because the flavor of pure cardamom is so strong that a little goes a long way, and in the end is less expensive than adulterated varieties.  Each seed pod contains three double rows of seeds (the bulge of the seeds can be seen on the pods in this photo).  We use whole or split cardamom seed pods in beverages and in some curry recipes.  For more information on cardamom and to see the nutritional chart, see our description of ground cardamom.  The actual size of these cardamom seed pods can be seen in the photo to the left of a 1-teaspoon measuring spoon full of cardamom seeds pods.

Vegan FlagThe above recipe is in keeping with God's creation intent (Genesis 1:29-31): 'Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-- everything that has the breath of life in it-- I give every green plant for food." And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.' (NIV) Let no animal suffer or die that we may live!
