And a Little Child Will Lead Them

August 2009

I have a twelve year grand-daughter, her name is Faith, when she was a small child she was a vegetarian by choice, when asked why she answered, "God did not put animals on the earth for humans to kill and eat."

When she was 4 years old one day she said to me, "Grandad, will you say a prayer with me," of course I agreed.  She asked me to kneel down with her and this is what she said, "Dear God, bless my school, bless all the animals and people who have died, and God bless all the birds, animals and insects, because they make the world a better place to live in, I will miss you, rest in peace. Thank you God."

Again, when she was a little girl she had a hamster named Hammie, he died, so she organised a funeral for him which her brother, sister, and my wife and I attended.  He was buried in my back garden, and over his grave she placed a roof tile on which was written, "Hammie, I love you, I will never stop loving you, and I will never forget you, Faithie." We were all weeping tears of sorrow.

May God bless you in your endeavors.

Love, Tom McFerran.
