Run free now Sir Hank

From Life After Labs/New Life Animal Sanctuary
Facebook posting, August 2022

Though Hank only came to us earlier this year, we loved him dearly. He loved drinking from the pond fountains, rolling on his back in the dirt, and especially hanging out with his lovely lady friends, Mary Jo and Marjorie. And oh how they loved him too.

There’s just no easy way to say it…. We lost him this morning. We know the doctors at Veterinary Angels Medical Center did everything they could but all the numbers were going in the wrong direction. Hank could not be turned around and we had to end his suffering. Needless to say, we are devastated.

The last week has been an extremely tough roller coaster. There were moments of hope where we saw him fighting to live and there were times that he was so defeated. We held onto those glimmers of hope as hard as we could, until we couldn’t anymore.

The last several days were hard on them as well. They’ve been confused and concerned, staying in the barn with him all day - or occasionally leaving briefly but coming back to check on him - and making the saddest sounds that are difficult to describe but there’s no doubt they indicated that they were worried about him too.

Run free now Sir Hank. If only love could have saved you. We miss you like crazy already. And we promise to take good care of your girls.
