Maddie and Vanna were two beloved goats that were likely your friends if you ever visited Indraloka. They were the best of friends. The type of friends that talk every single day and who rely on each other when one is feeling down.
Spring, the season of rebirth, renewal and regrowth, is quickly coming to
a close, and the warm summer weather is back to filling the daily forecast.
This is a welcomed change here at Indraloka, as new life is blossoming after
a year of gut-wrenching losses.
It all began with Maddie and Vanna, two beloved goats that were likely your
friends if you ever visited Indraloka. They were the best of friends. The
type of friends that talk every single day and who rely on each other when
one is feeling down. They were by each other’s side every day since they
met, and they loved each other fiercely.
Both had similar stories- maybe that's why they were so close, they could
understand one another. Both had been bred over and over again until their
bodies were weak and they could no longer take the stress. Both were going
to be sent to slaughter until they were rescued and brought to Indraloka,
instead.
They lived long, happy, peaceful lives at Indraloka, but just over a year
ago, their old age caught up to their young souls, and their bodies began to
fail them.
Their love for each other was so strong that Maddie died just weeks after Vanna crossed over. Her heart was too broken to move on without her best friend.
It was hard for everyone who knew them. And yet we know that in life
there is death. We experience a lot of it in the sanctuary world because all
of our beloveds stay with us for their entire natural lives. Even the
healthiest animals will grow into old age and die, and it is not only our
responsibility to give them a beautiful death, but it is our honor to do so.
We are grateful that we have the chance to provide them with what otherwise
would surely be a frightening and untimely departure. It’s part of the
circle of life, after all.
Thank you for keeping the hope alive through all of the hard times, for
having faith in us, and for sharing your love.
------
We need you to keep this work going. Because you are part of the animals’ circle of life - woven through the beginning at their birth or rescue, through any hardships they face, and through the end of their natural lives. We couldn’t do it without you, and we need you to be able to provide a beautiful life for our beloved animals and many future rescues to come.
That is why we are asking for your help. We need it now more than ever before in order to provide more animals with the same life- and peaceful, happy death- as Maddie and Vanna.
The animals need you. Due to several emergencies and many unexpected vet visits, we have already spent almost all of our annual veterinary care budget, and we are only halfway through the year. We must recoup these funds to provide proper care for the animals for the rest of 2019. We need YOUR help to raise $30,000 by July 1st. These funds will help cover the cost of the animals' food, bedding, supplies, and necessary vet care.
