Turtle Houdini

This small side neck named Jordan came in two years ago. After about a year, I put her in the boggy yard with another side neck. She promptly disappeared for 4-6 months. Finally after praying to St. Anthony who finds things for me, she reappeared in the same place. So I figured she was too small at four inches to be left out in that yard and brought her in.

One day, I put her out in this raised garden bed that I use for the special needs turtles to get sun. When Marshall brought them in, no Jordan again. We dug through the dirt many times - nothing. It has gopher proofing at the bottom so I figured she has to be in there!

That was December, so I turtle proofed the whole yard prayed to St. Anthony again, and this week she surfaced all dirty but fine. We now changed her name to Houdini. I have a tiny mud turtle about 2 ½ inches that did that once and was gone for six months.

He's now house bound until this week, when I put him in the raised bed with the special needs guys because the soil is nice from the rain - now he is gone again.

Sigh.
