FROM Indraloka Animal Sanctuary
August 2021

Mira knew she was in safe hands and within a few months, she began to walk again. Soon, she was running, and she has never, ever looked back.

Goat Mira

Mira was rescued and brought to the sanctuary from a horrible hoarding situation in 2018. Her previous home had too many goats without the means to take care of all of them. They weren’t able to provide Mira with quality veterinary care, and her hooves became terribly overgrown and infected. Because each step caused her pain, Mira learned to walk on her knees.

Eventually, her legs became misshapen, fused at a 90-degree angle. We worked tirelessly with sweet Mira to provide physical therapy and support to help her get back on her feet. We heated the muscles in her legs and used gentle but firm stretches to help her get used to straightening her legs again. Mira knew she was in safe hands and within a few months, she began to walk again. Soon, she was running, and she has never, ever looked back.

Mira's sweet personality and dedication to anything she puts her mind to are why we chose her as this year's Goat Games team captain! We couldn't think of anyone better to represent the spirit of the Goat Games, as well as showing that a little help and determination can get you a long way in life!

You can make a donation in honor of Mira's fighting spirit.
