Pigs are emotional, social, and far more intelligent than even dogs and many primates.
From Webster's Dictionary: Perspicacity = the quality of having a ready insight into things; shrewdness.
Pigs really are extraordinary beings! They are emotional, social, and far more intelligent than even dogs and many primates. Even piglets as young as two weeks old learn their names and can respond appropriately. This is hardly a surprise since pigs have a rather complex "language" of oinks and grunts that convey a range of emotions.
It is important that they be able to communicate effectively as they live in small groups and form close bonds with one another. Pigs are even known to enjoy coming into contact with each other, often napping together.
They are peaceful animals, with mothers only showing aggression when their piglets are in danger.
Those in the know say pigs enjoy a good puzzle. To keep them stimulated, pigs' human companions will often offer them mazes or puzzles of sorts to solve to get treats. Pigs recognize a number of humans' faces, and they even try to converse with human friends. Miss Lily Pie, Gavin, and Mazor ("Mazzie") are among Indraloka's chattier pigs.
Researchers found that pigs have many psychological characteristics in
common with human personalities like temperaments, behavioral patterns, and
coping mechanisms. They also tend to their home areas keeping them clean and
waste-free.
