The power of this man's love for Suzie was limitless. He gave up his companion he shared his bed and the little food he ate every day so she could live a better life.

Dog Suzie

My baby died yesterday. I brought her from Ethiopia in 2009. Found her at a vet clinic where she was taken by a German family to be euthanized. They had her as a companion, but were going back to Germany and for some reason couldn’t? Or did not want to take her with them? Anyway, they felt putting her back out on the cruel streets was, well, cruel and thought she would be better off dying.

When taken to the clinic, the clinic guard met the German family and they handed Suzie over to him instead of taking her inside the clinic to be euthanized, this good man hid her for weeks, sharing his one plate meal with her daily.

Eventually the clinic learned about her and allowed the guard to keep her on the premises. When I went to the clinic (we were there with a team of vets to train the clinic personnel) it was love at first sight and she liked me, we started playing a lot. After a few days I asked the guard if I could take her to America.

This gentle soul said, please take her and give her a better life. (The power of this man's love for Suzie was limitless. He gave up his companion he shared his bed and the little food he ate a day so she could live a better life. A reminder that there are good, kind and compassionate people out there in the world.

Suzie has been with me for 12 years. Living the American dream. A full belly everyday and a warm bed to sleep in and lots of love.

Now she is gone and my heart is broken.
