Wisconsin: In an anonymous communique received today by the North American Animal Liberation Press Office, activists claim to have contaminated two Wisconsin fur farms owned by Bob Zimbal (see below image) with deadly Aleutian Disease. The activists state they obtained the infected mink urine and feces from rescued, infected mink that they cared for until they subsequently died.

If proven accurate, both Zimbal's Fur Farms, located at 6437 Abraham Ct, Sheboygan Falls and 9532 Sauk Trail Rd in Oostburg, would require extensive sanitizing, discarding of all stored feed and perhaps even replacement of all cages. The infected areas were presumably free of any animals, as it is well past the time of year when animals are killed for their fur.

The latest action comes on the heels of four different mink liberations in the last 2 months, freeing thousands of captive mink and forcing the closure of Lion Farms, one of the largest mink farms in the country. This is illegal direct action at its best, with quantifiable results that can be measured in lives saved. The number of fur farms in America has dwindled from more than 300 in the 1990s to less than 100 today, as the fur industry continues its steady decline into oblivion.

The four previous liberations this year were in Massilon, Ohio (1000 liberated), Pipkorn Farm in Michigan (800), Lion Farms in Ohio (10,000) and Scholten Farm in Michigan (4000). None of the activists responsible for the liberations have been identified or apprehended.

The Animal Liberation Front and other anonymous activists utilize economic sabotage in addition to the direct liberation of animals from conditions of abuse and imprisonment to halt needless animal suffering. By making it more expensive to trade in the lives of innocent, sentient beings, they maintain the atrocities against our brothers and sisters are likely to occur in smaller numbers; their goal is to abolish the exploitation, imprisonment, torture and killing of all innocent, non-human animals.
