OFFICE MANAGER/STAFF ASSISTANT
Alley Cat Allies is a non-profit animal protection organization promoting the nonlethal control of feral cats. Formed in 1990, our membership is 38,000 in the U.S. and abroad. Our programs serve individual caretakers of feral cat colonies as well as shelters and veterinarians who offer services for feral cats.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Working directly with the President and Executive Director handling general secretarial duties such as word processing, filing, travel arrangements and telecommunications; drafting correspondence and responding to information requests from the general public. Answer phones and direct calls to appropriate person; sort the mail. General management and efficient daily operation of the office such as ordering supplies and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications:
Excellent secretarial and organizational skills; office work experience; personal computer experience; initiative and enthusiasm. Knowledge of Windows 95 Office including Word, strong verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills, self-directed, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, detail oriented with excellent organizational skills, interest in cats and other animals a plus.

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE/WRITER

Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include policy research and writing to support the organization's work in promoting nonlethal control of feral cats. Write and edit a broad range of assignments for print and online publications. Research, write, edit, copy-edit, and proofread articles. Write, edit and produce brochures and other printed programmatic and fundraising materials. Help maintain content of the organization's web site. Help implement the media relations program; write and distribute press releases. Perform related job duties as required.

Requirements:
The position requires excellent writing and analytical skills. Two to four years writing experience, preferable in an animal-related field. Ideally, knowledge about cats or wildlife issues. Must be well organized and able to use own initiative, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines. Must be accurate, detail-oriented. Proficiency with Microsoft Word is required.
