ANIMAL SERVICES MANAGER - Health and Human Services

PRIMARY TASKS:
Provide leadership, and manage employee performance through planning,
evaluating, training, coaching and disciplining staff.
Develop community relations and communications to enhance the public image
of the Animal Center and promote programs to achieve a "No Kill Millennium".
Lead development of Unit goals, objectives and priorities.
Manage, track, and evaluate performance of programs.
Lead development/enforce Unit policies/procedures.
Budget development and fiscal monitoring.
Produce memos, reports and other written correspondence.
Represent Unit and Department to Advisory Commission, other groups.
Lead meetings; participate in direct service delivery (shelter/field services).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Professional animal control/shelter services knowledge/skills. Ideally, the
individual would have experience working in a progressive shelter or for an
animal services organization that has implemented innovative or compassionate
programs. Ability to lead planning and policy development processes.
Knowledge of organization development and human resources management
issues/processes. Budget development and management knowledge/ability.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to develop operations and
financial activity tracking reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years
experience in rabies/animal control, animal health care/shelter services, public
health or environmental health services, two (2) of which must be in a supervisory
capacity. One (1) additional year of relevant work experience may substitute for
one (1) year of the required education with a maximum substitution of four (4)
years.
LICENSE: Valid Driver's license.
SALARY RANGE: Salary Commensurate
HOURS: To be determined
LOCATION: 1156 W. Cesar Chavez
