The US Fish and Wildlife Service has produced the
"National Survey of
Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife Associated Recreation" reports for all 50
states.
This report is done every 5 years.
It contains a lot of valuable info, and is available
FREE, either from the internet
at:
http://www.census.gov/prod/www/abs/fishing.html
Or, you can call the USFWS at 304-876-7203, and they
will mail you out a copy
for whatever state you want.

PS. Here is a little bit of good info. The sales of
hunting licenses peaked in
1982, with 16.7 million. In 1997 there were 14.9 million, down by 1.8
million in
15 years. There was a reduction of 300,000 from 1996 to 1997.
