April 1999 - The National Anti-Vivisection society is
proud to announce the
establishment of the NAVS Sanctuary Fund. The purpose of this new fund
is to
provide timely financial assistance to animal organizations (including
animal
shelters, humane societies, animal advocacy groups and sanctuaries)
involved in
real emergency situations. This can range from rescuing animals off the
streets
to providing sanctuary to surplus animals no longer needed for research.
Members and donors of the National Anti-Vivisection
Society began this fund in
response to numerous requests for financial aid from various national
and
international animal groups. The procedures are now in place to react
quickly
and effectively when animals (and animal organizations) need an extra
helping
hand during an emergency.
If your group feels that you qualify for funding through
this new program, please
contact NAVS for an application. As part of the application process, we
will ask
that you provide information about your organization and the specific
need for
funding. Applications are reviewed the first week of every month. All
requests will
be responded to within six weeks. You can request an application form by
writing
