Celentano Vegetarian Selects

Adapted from "Vegetarian Life" - the newsletter of
the Vegetarian Society of South Jersey

For years Celentano has been offering frozen meals that are prepared with-
out the use of preservatives, chemicals and artificial ingredients. In 1995,
Celentano debuted their Vegetarian Selects line. This line was so well
received that they now have fifteen vegetarian selections, eleven of which
are totally vegan, meaning they contain no animal products.

Vegetarian Selects, like all Celentano products, can be purchased through
your local health food store, whole foods store, or in the frozen pasta section
of your local supermarket. They come in a 10 oz package that can be baked
in a 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes, or they can be prepared in the
microwave for added convenience.

Look for the tan box, and choose either "Vegetarian Selects" (which are
vegetarian) or "Non-dairy Vegetarian Selects" (which are vegan). You will
find that on the front of the package, Celentano not only clearly lists the
ingredients in the entree, but also pictures each ingredient as well, making
their Vegetarian Select items consumer-friendly as well as animal-friendly!!

Some of their newest items include:

~ Penne with Roasted Vegetables (vegan) - a tender blend of pasta with
garden vegetables in a light tomato sauce.
~ Roasted Vegetable Lasagna (vegan) - breaded eggplant and zucchini
layered with roasted vegetables and an herb tomato sauce dressing.
~ Porcini Risotto with Roasted Vegetables (vegan) - creamy porcini
mushroom risotto blended with roasted summer vegetables and a pomodoro
tomato sauce.
~ Risotto with Eggplant, Tofu and Spinach (vegan) - breaded eggplant
medallions topped with a spinach-tofu medley, served with creamy porcini
mushroom risotto.
~ Lasagne Primavera (vegan) - delicate layers of fresh pasta filled with tofu,
zucchini, broccoli, and carrots, topped with a zesty marinara sauce.

Other vegan entrees include: Eggplant Roulettes; Spinach & Broccoli
Manicotti; and Spinach & Broccoli Stuffed Shells. Other vegetarian
entrees include: Broccoli Stuffed Shells, Manicotti Florentine; and Lasagne

(Are you getting hungry now?)

Why don't you pick up a few of these selections on your next shopping trip.
Give them a try, and then, if you find them as tasty as I have, let Celentano
know how much you appreciate the strides they have made to offer this
much-needed, high quality line of delicious, wholesome, easy-to-prepare
vegetarian/vegan entrees.
