Boston, MA -- The Massachusetts Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals (MSPCA) announces the launch of a new web site aimed at making
information about animals in U.S. laboratories widely available to
students,
teachers, the media, and interested members of the public.
The site is managed by the MSPCA's Center for Laboratory
Animal Welfare,
which was formed in 1992 to bring thoughtful analysis to the often
highly-
polarized debate concerning the use of animals in laboratories today. It
addresses such issues as alternatives in product safety testing,
concerns
about animals in genetic engineering research, the future of chimpanzees
in
laboratories, and the humane use of animals in education.
The MSPCA is one of the nation's oldest and most
comprehensive humane
organizations, serving animals and people through a wide variety of
local,
national, and international programs.
