The Animals Agenda seeks Editorial Assistant

About us: At The Animals Agenda our motto is "Helping People Help Animals," and for 20 years we've been doing just that as the nations only independent animal rights magazine, subscribers and readers rely upon The Animals Agenda for in-depth news and views about animals. With each issue, readers are educated through investigative stories on animal exploitation and analysis of movement strategies, inspired by profiles of activists and coverage of recent victories, and empowered with tips on how to act effectively. About the position: The primary function of the Editorial Assistant is to aid the Managing Editor in producing each issue of The Animals' Agenda in the form of research, writing, producing various departments in the magazine, and general support. Working closely with the Managing Editor and Editor in Chief, the Editorial Assistant is a key player in the production of The Animals' Agenda, and is strongly encouraged to offer creative story ideas and other suggestions to help develop editorial content. The position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong concerns about animals to learn more about the growing field of animal rights and related subjects, as well as the fields of publishing and journalism.

Salary: $17,000, full-time.

Qualifications:
1. Outstanding writing skills
2. Familiarity with animal advocacy issues and organizations.
3. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
4. Must be able to work on own initiative.
5. Experience and/or training in journalism, research, copy editing, magazine production, and printing preferred.
6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products highly desirable.
