I came upon you on a cold wet day,
Weak and hungry, in a flooded ditch you lay,
I picked you up gently and our eyes met,
I memory I will never forget.
I could tell you were exhausted, sick and cold,
With a story so long that will never be told.
The anguish and suffering that you had been through,
Who in this earth could have done that to you?
With a warm bed and food, you soon got spry,
So a trip to the vet one-day we did try.
The news was not good, heartworms and old age,
But I could feel you tell me you had 'a will" not to gauge,
You became healthy, secure, and learned of peace and love,
This was a gift from heaven above.
Today I lost my beloved old friend,
I cried and felt a loss I wanted never to end.
You spent your last days at the vet, which I deeply regret,
I wanted to save you, my Tundra, I hope you know that.
We were together for just one short year,
It sped by of course, but I will always hold it dear.
Your loving sweet "seal pup" eyes will always shine,
And I cherish the time that you came to be mine.
I loved tucking you in at night in your a warm cozy spot,
And sharing snacks in the kitchen that you always sought.
Even though you could not hear we would all say,
No yummy smells in the kitchen would keep Tundra away!
I know you are in heaven, for you were made only of love,
Dog Angels to guide you to God up above.
I will never stop searching for little ones like you,
Your spirit will guide me to always be true.
Bless you my Tundra, our spirits never part,
You will always be the "Dog Angel" guiding my heart.
