The Animal Research Issues Section of The Humane Society
of the United States (HSUS) is seeking a summer intern to help with
various projects, particularly those associated with its Pain & Distress
Campaign, whose ultimate goal is to eliminate pain and distress in
animals used in laboratory settings by the year 2020. This position pays
$1,000 per month, and allows the intern to gain valuable professional
experience with animal protection. The successful applicant will be a
college student (high-school graduates are eligible) preferably pursuing
studies in the life sciences, and have a demonstrable commitment to
animal advocacy. The work location will be The HSUS's operations center
located in Gaithersburg, Maryland (a suburb of Washington, DC).
