If you have not already done so, please join IDA's "They
Are Not Our Property, We Are Not Their Owners" campaign. You can begin
by using the word "guardian" in place of "owner" when referring to
companion animals. If "owner" must be used, put the word in quotation
marks to indicate a negative connotation.
Taking this step will help promote a greater
responsibility to and a deeper respect for the animals with whom we
