Since both Whole Foods and Wild Oats have stopped selling
eggs from caged birds this year (\http://tinyurl.com/73dgd
), HSUS recently started correspondence with one of their top competitors,
Trader Joe's, asking them to do the same. Unfortunately, it's became clear
that the chain doesn't plan on ending its sale of battery cage eggs
through correspondence alone.
Yesterday, HSUS sent out a press release (
http://tinyurl.com/deypv ), put up
a web story ( http://tinyurl.com/c94ut
), and sent an alert to more than 100,000 of our activists, urging Trader
Joe's to stop selling eggs from caged birds.
A key component of this campaign will involve Trader Joe's
hearing from its customers. If you're able to bring a customer comment
card ( http://tinyurl.com/9zd66 )
to a location near you, we'd really appreciate it. You can find your
closest location at
http://www.traderjoes.com/locations/index.asp . Even just calling them
to request a cage-free policy would be a big help.
