A Tail Flickers in February
By Kimberly DeMatteo -

A tinge in the wind makes me remember,
for painful pasts are newly renewed.
It's like the weather
sometimes shaking trees and branches.
The rain comes and time stands still,
leaving with it the bitter cold of February.
I cry and it feels better for the moment
but somehow returns.
I knew we didn't have much time with you,
but still February came too soon.
The sun heals and holds my hand
for February is almost too much to bear.
Time can be gentle
when days seem too real
and again there's that flicker
that time can never heal.
