Poetry

Dear God
by Guila Manchester

Please keep me humble.

And if I ever need

To see my name in lights,
Then let them be
The kind of lights that shine
In some dumb creature's eyes
That just a time before
Held misery.

And if I ever need

To seek self-satisfaction
By letting others know
The good I do,
Then make the wish to help
So deep within me,
The only one I'll need to tell
Is You.
