Misery for dinner anyone?
Debeaked chickens stacked in rows
with no one there who would oppose
loss of feathers from mass crowding
a life of suffering this will bring.
The sow~ reduced to a simple sausage machine
pumping out piglets, her anguish unseen
all used up, she's sent to her end
then to the plate in a seasoned blend.
Torn from her calf and left alone
this dairy mother can only moan
For her milk, we take for us
no one cares to make a fuss.
Veal calves chained in their crate
for six months they put on weight
Unable to walk or to turn around
and never touch grassy ground.
Slaughter in the massive scales
when greed steps in compassion fails
If glass replaced the slaughterhouse brick
surely it would make us sick.
Misery for dinner anyone?
