I am born today
My mother licks my fur
I feel so safe with her
I sleep with my sisters and brother
Nestled in the security of our mother
I am born today
I am happy today
I'm older now, but not by much
I've long ears and fur soft to touch
This nice big cage is our home
And with my family, I'll never be alone
I am happy today
I am sad today
The sign on our box read
"Free to a good home" in red
My brother and sisters were quickly taken
A man took me; I'm alone and shaking
I am sad today
I am scared today
I was brought to a strange place
My dark, cold cage has very little space
I smell fear from other rabbits like me
Needles and liquids are all I can see
I am scared today
I am horrified today
The men said four rabbits died
They said it was good, but those men lied
I can't understand why we must die
So man can test medicines and the like
I am horrified today
I am confused today
Some men in black came in the night
My first feeling towards them was rigid fright
But they said "Don't worry, we'll set you free"
'Til the police came and took their liberty
I am confused today
I am dying today
My turn came to be tested
They forced me and I resisted
As I lay here getting rougher
I wonder why my kind must suffer
I hope that someday others will find
That animals like us will be treated kind
I died today.
