Circle of Compassion
Violence, domination, disrespect, sexism, speciesism, and total lack of awareness of the sacredness of life is all evident in this one little sign.
"Happy Hooker Bait Sold Here"
While stopped at a gas station recently, I noticed a sign on the door which
said "Happy Hooker Bait sold here." To illustrate the concept there was a
drawing of a worm (try to picture this) dressed in black gloves and a red
evening gown that hugged her curling worm body. The worm had a woman's head,
and she was holding on to a fishing hook. Violence, domination, disrespect,
sexism, speciesism, and total lack of awareness of the sacredness of life is
all evident in this one little sign.
The Divinity of Worms
On the absolute other end of the spectrum comes Isaac Bashevis Singer who
wrote "Even in the worm that crawls in the earth there glows a divine spark.
When you slaughter a creature, you slaughter God."
Prayers for Worms and for the Elevation of Human Consciousness
This week, let us send thoughts and prayers of love, inclusiveness, respect,
and compassion for all worms and especially for those in the hands of people
who use them as bait to catch unsuspecting fish who also suffer and die in
the process. In addition, our thoughts and prayers must also reach to the
root of the mindset that causes such behavior in human beings. Spiritually
we can communicate with the hearts and souls of all people. Let us send them
visions of a world at peace in which the mindset of domination no longer
exists but instead is replaced by a worldview of cooperation, mutual
respect, and a deep knowing that all life is sacred and interconnected.
Thanks to all of you, compassion is encircling the earth for all beings. Thank you for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace for all beings.
