Dear John:

The Greek work you are looking for is most likely psyche, (Greek: psee-che'), which means soul, and refers to humans and animals equally. In Genesis 1 and 2, God created all the animals and man as living souls (Hebrew: neh-fesh khah-yaw).

While the article says that Christians are free to eat meat, we are not free to cause the animals to suffer horrible lives and deaths for our pleasure, as is the case with virtually all animal products sold in our stores. In our opinion this is the deciding factor for not eating or otherwise using or exploiting animals.

And, yes, Paul is including the eating of meat.

The above also explains how the so called Christian hunters are viewed, and we seriously wonder if will be the "believers" who will cry Lord, Lord, and He will say that He never knew them.

We hope this helps.

In the Love of the Lord,
