To Whom it May Concern:
Just another critical question about your site. Why do you say that there is imminent death in the egg industry? My husband and I buy our eggs from a neighbor who does not kill and chickens, baby chicks, or fertilized eggs. Hens lay eggs on their own without a rooster. The rooster can be let in with the hens for a certain amount of time during the year to build the chicken families. There is no death, since a hen can lay lots of eggs that will never become chickens. Also, there are no babies thrown out. Why is our egg consumption wrong? Why not encourage others to either farm their own eggs and take care of the chickens or find someone else to patronize who does just that?
Why is milking a cow evil? One can allow a family/herd of cows to live normally, reproduce normally, and still milk them. You can let the mother raise her calf, wean him or her, and then continue milking the cow for the needs of your family/children. There is no evil done to the cows this way. When the cow stops producing milk, she can be allowed to cohabitate with the bull again until she naturally becomes pregnant. Then, during the calf's infancy, one can allow the calf to have all the milk. After the calf is older, one can take only the little bit of milk that is easily obtainable after a calf has already nursed in the morning. Milking by hand poses no danger or injury to a cow. Why are you opposed to this?
