Animals as Food

Dear Tamer:

Thank you very much for writing and for your Islamic information. We really appreciate it.

Since today, we no longer need animals for food, and can live an even healthier life eating only plant foods, what is your understanding of the teachings of the Koran, as it relates to unnecessary killing of an animal?

The Jewish kosher method of killing an animal is quite similar, and we have seem horrendous abuse caused in some of these ritual slaughtering. How do we prevent this from happening? From what we've seen, there really doesn't seem to be any humane method of killing.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
