Animals as Food
By Frank and Mary Hoffman - 31 Aug 2011

Dear Dean:

Actually, there is nothing in the Bible that tells us that Jesus ever ate any meat during his incarnate life upon the earth. There is only one verse in the Bible that says that Jesus may have eaten a piece of broiled fish after his resurrection, but the Greek says that He was offered a piece of broiled fish and a honey comb and that He ate it (singular), but we are not told which.

The key is that based upon His compassionate teachings, today with all the suffering inflicted upon commercially raised animals, He would never eat them.

A woman has a "legal right" to abort her baby, but it is still killing. In order to be truly pro-life a person must be against, war, capital punishment, the killing of animals for human consumption, health, and pleasure, and the aborting of human babies.

Perhaps the way to answer your last question is to ask you if you agree that animals have the same emotions and feeling as humans do. If you do, then you know that they want to live and be free of pain just as much as humans do. It is only our relationships with one another that would make us want to save or classify one as being more important to us as individuals.

We hope this answers your question.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
