Christian Bowhunters of America
Is it really Christian?
Comment by Frank and Mary Hoffman - 26 Jun 2007

Dear Rachael:

Thank you for writing and for telling us about your farm and for the photo of your rooster. You certainly seem to raise your animals a whole lot better than they are on factory farms, where animals suffer all their lives.

Jesus Christ's whole ministry was directed toward teaching people how to live a loving, compassionate and peacemaking life, and by so doing we would be called children of God. This is the state in which a true believer should be living.

We live in a fallen world where there is killing suffering and death, but Jesus told us that we are in this world, but not of it. We are of the heavenly world of our Father who is in heaven, a place where there is no pain or suffering or death, and of whom we are to pray for His heavenly will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Jesus also told us that this fallen world is of the devil. When we chose to live and justify our living in the ways of the world, we are really siding with the devil instead of God. We are to strive to be perfect as our father in heaven is perfect.

When a person kills another living being, she or he has to harden their heart so as not to fell the fear, and pain of their victim. The Bible teaches us that when we are born again, we are to have a softened heart.

These are just a few of the reasons why we are against hunting and killing. We don't want the animals to suffer, and we don't want anything or anyone to hinder a person from entering the kingdom of God.

We hope this helps answer your questions.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
