Companion Vs. Other Animals
Comments by Laurie Ulrich Fuller - 4 Aug 2007

As man gobbles up more of the earth, shrinking either the animals' natural habitats or reducing their food supplies (or both), the animals end up encroaching on "our" territory. Again, it's our fault when these things happen, and the marauding bears, coyotes, wild cats, etc. are not to blame.

Of course, when these conflicts occur, both creatures (man and the animals) need to be protected, but animals shouldn't pay the ultimate price (with their lives) unless they've got a toddler in their teeth at the time.
