One very effective way of limiting deer population is through immuno-contraception.
The overeating of undergrowth only occurs when there isn’t enough food in a
particular year, but the following year the population usually drops off.
Much of our development is wooded, and we have never had a serious problem.
In fact, where the white pines and elms have died off, we always see new
growth trees sprouting up
Deer have only one cycle of birth a year, but since usually only males are
hunted, the weaker males who normally don’t mate impregnate the females, and
for some reason there is an increase in number of twins being born. We have
also witnessed this in our own area.
