Fear of Dying
Comments by Mike Shaw - 13 Dec 2004

Hi Dena,

Yes, I agree with your post. I do not fear dying... It is not because I believe in God... Hey, I could be wrong. But if I am wrong and there is no life after death, well, that is fine, I will not know that.... So, it is not the fear of death, but rather, it is the pain I might have to go through in the process....

Example:

I had two great aunts who lived together many years ago. One night, as they were getting into bed, the one aunt noticed that the other was really praying longer than usual... She finally called out to the other one to see what she was praying for. She did not respond... Turns out she had died quietly while saying her prayers. She had no pain, she just simply died...

She didn't fall over, she just froze in prayer position by her bed.

Now, if I knew I was going to die that way, I would throw a party right now... But, I suspect, knowing the history of men with bad hearts in my family, that I am going to be going through a lot of nonsense before I take the big trip home... So, that is the part I don't like...

Now, there may be other people who do fear death... so, I guess I can not speak for everyone. Some folks are into some strange stuff that I do not understand and therefore, they may also have different views on death than I do...

Take care,

Mike Shaw
