God and Suffering

I do understand your steadfast belief in the Scriptures as the final and absolute word of God, Elaine. (And I think you're expressing yourself very eloquently, in spite of the pain meds... no one would guess, and I hope you heal quickly). I'm just expressing that this is not true for everyone, and people can possess equally sincere and righteous faith in our Creator without holding that position ... actually, that latter form of faith, far from being a modern one, is even more "archaic" (to use your word) than Scripture itself.

You mention a preference for a belief and faith that gives you "comfort", and I think that's what everyone seeks in some form. God being the ultimate Comforter, there are no doubt infinite forms that comfort may be both offered and received.
