Horseback Riding and Animal Rights:
Can They Ever Be in Harmony?
Comments by: Michelle - 17 Jan 2006

I have wondered about this and have mixed feelings. I doubt I would ride a horse again, due to back injuries and it doesn't seem nice to put a bit in a horses mouth.

However, I wonder what would become of the horses in the world if they were not ridden? Most unwanted horses that were once beloved show ponies and 4 H projects are shipped off to east Europe for horse meat. It's a kind of double edge sword.

I despise any sort of racing and hard line show jumping though. I've seen to many horses put down.

That's just my opinion though. A bit wishy washy.

:-) Michelle
