Horseback Riding and Animal Rights:
Can They Ever Be in Harmony?
Comments by: Erin Oldford - 27 Feb 2002

Every animal on the face of the earth has been exploited and tortured, some
worse than others, throughout history.  I have a wonderful book entitled "A
Perfect Harmony" written by Roger Caras that explores this issue.

I ride horses, I don't condone and I am not a part of a system or tradition
of abusing horses.  I am speaking only for myself, not for the carriage
drivers, not for the mounted police, not for the cattle drivers, I don't
defend what they do.  I'm well aware of the hideous ways they have been used
and abused over the years and it breaks my heart.
