How Could God Allow...?
Comments by Frank and Mary Hoffman - 16 Feb 2007
We very glad you wrote, and you are in our prayers.
Several times a week, people write to us asking the same question: "How could God allow..."
Perhaps part of the answer to your prayer is in writing to us, for we feel the same way that you do, but have learned to funnel our grief and mourning into action. We can no longer help those who have suffered and died, but we can help prevent these things from happening to others. The more we expose the truth about these horrors to the public, the more people will speak out and demand an end to the cruelty and exploitation of animals. Since the advent of the Internet, this has been happening more and more. In fact, the very law that sent the men to jail came about in recent years because of this public outcry.
We know it hurts terribly, and it can easily make us emotional wrecks, but we need to take all the horrible images and politely put them before every person in the world. We need to make them feel as emotionally upset as we do, and shock them into doing something to end the cruelty.
Too many animal organizations soft peddle the issues in order not to scare people off, and lose their donations for doggie and kitty people, and this soft peddling has only made the situation worse. People rarely change when we soft peddle an issue. We all need to work to end the use and exploitation of animals, and to give them the legal rights they deserve. Jesus tells us that whatever is hidden in the darkness will be exposed, and we have the ability and power to shine His light upon these issues. Paul tells us in Romans 8 that the children of God are the ones that are going to free creation from its present corruption, and you are one of these peacemaking children of God.
As you say, we need to be the voice for the voiceless.
In the Love of the Lord,
Frank and Mary
