I agree with Stephen - that factory farming is the far worse sin. Did any of you ever see the movie 'Last of the Mohicans'? The opening scene is one in which a man and his two sons are hunting a deer- after stalking and shooting him, they touch him gently, praising him for his stamina and courage and say 'we are sorry to have killed you, brother...' Then they take him to a farmer friend as a gift of food. A far cry from the torture and abuse of animals bred for nothing but slaughter...

The cold, hard fact, in my opinion, is - until the return of Christ, people will always eat animals. It has been this way for millinea. The difference between past and present methods, however, of animal slaughter and consumption, is radically different in terms of abuse because of modern factory farming. Mike Zavage's method of hunting and killing creatures resembles that of those in the past- one who respects boundaries and manner in which he kills.

I am pro life. I am passionate about this cause and do what I can to educate others about the reality and immorality of abortion. There are some who advocate the use of violence, force and even murder to stop this practice. Although abortion is a gruesome practice, I cannot condone the use of violence to stop it's practice- violence begets violence and takes the focus off of the cause.

So it is with the idea of using violence to 'stop' animal abuse. From what I have observed, when violence is used, the focus is taken off of the abuse, the goal of gaining sympathy and/or greater enlightenment/education is stymied, and the cause is hampered.

I understand the distaste for and disagreement with Mike Zavage's hunting and attitude about it. I think it is appropriate to point out the disagreement with his actions in a logical manner. But, I am concerned about comparing Mike Zavage's hunting attitude with that of satanic- I think there are far bigger targets out there in terms of abuse and horrific treatment of animals.
