Living in Joy in an often Joyless World

Comments by Rhonda - 30 Jan 2006

Heidi,

I don't think there has ever been a time in my life when I DIDN'T feel completely frustrated, powerless and overwhelmed by the absolute pleasure people take in their wicked behavior.

It's always seemed to me that not only is the world a cruel place, but, it REVELS in that evil.

30 years ago, there was nowhere to go to find release, comfort or the fellowship of like-minded people. (That might seem like a small thing to be thankful for, but, it was HUGE for me, especially after spending an entire lifetime praying for it.) Thank goodness for the CVA!

The one thing that kept my sanity, way back then, was to do everything within the confines of my OWN world to alleviate the suffering. I made a pledge, that in my lifetime, I would never turn an animal in need away who crossed my path. Somehow, with the help of the Lord I've been able to keep that promise. Without funding or volunteers and even without adoption...this is how my activism has manifested itself.

Having a tangible record of the many I have helped, has helped me. I had to focus on what I could do, rather than be immobilized by what I couldn't.

Though my heart is heavy with grief at what I see in our world, I'm never sidetracked and have no intention of ever giving up! I guess the joy for me is in knowing I've chosen to be part of the solution, instead of being part of the problem. You're a very intelligent and sensitive lady...I have faith that you will figure out a path to that elusive joy.

Many blessings my friend,

Rhonda
