Mark 5:1-20

I find  that interpretation rather interesting, but I have never heard it elsewhere.  Maybe it was so and maybe it was not so; but, I too have thought about the passage and what it really means.

Elaine wrote something about ghosts and past lives visions and that they are probably of demonic origin.  (demons that have not found a new host-neither men nor animals)  There might be a demonic origin but I have studied these things for some time and I suspect there might be a connection to so called PSI (which of course in turn could have a demonic origin but I am not sure). Anyway, a theory says that so called ghosts and maybe also "past life visions" (that the New Age movement often takes as support for the doctrine of reincarnation) are a little like a movie - some kind of "echo" of the past that becomes visible to some individuals at some times. If I am not wrong there have been one or more cases where a (living) person in one place has been visible as a "ghost" in another place where he or she had been before.  Maybe the past leaves its "fingerprints" and that this leads people to believe things that are not compatible with the gospel because they misinterpret what they see.
