Loving Nature

To us, a person cannot fully love God unless he or she also loves God's creation:

whether it's expressed in the form of Mary's painting at the top of the page, or in Carol Vito's photo of this winter wonderland,

or through the gentle beauty of this mother and child drinking water,

or the beauty of this spotted touch-me-not,

or through this cat and rat who prove that Isaiah's prophecy of a peaceable kingdom (11:6-9) is a reality,

or through this peaceful encounter with a mouse in a tree.

Where is the veg Christian board discussions?  Is there a difference between the discussion boards?  I think I am looking for an opportunity to connect with Christians and others that have a heart for God, others and creation.

For the past several years God has consistently brought people into my life or I into theirs that are very uncomfortable with the name of Jesus, Christianity or the Bible.

On the other extreme many of the Christians I encounter, including my family, see themselves as only passing through this world. They may enjoy and appreciate the beauty and wonder of creation but the needs of creation are not the priority. The business of God is about saving souls and what does that have to do with other creatures. I suppose this is linked to the doctrine of man's dominion over the earth. At any rate it would be nice, maybe encouraging to hear a different view.

I confess I am a little hesitant about joining the discussions since I am not a vegetarian. I would like to feel that I could be received and heard, but I wonder. I think my reference to zoos is partly related to this wondering within my heart. I volunteer at the zoo I spoke of. I have known God's presence and teaching in the midst of that. His blessing to me thru the animals and people and vice versa. So I am interested but a little uncertain.
