Excellent, heartfelt -- and "right as rain" -- article by Dr. Victoria Martindale. I have long called "meat" for what it truly is: "dead animal flesh."
Using this term, rather than the oft-used soft acronym "meat," CAN and DOES get peoples' attention. Their eyes will widen and they may blanch at this indelicately correct description of what they put on their plates. The more eye-opening and blanching, the better, I say.
