Christian Pacifism
Comments by David J. Bier - 29 Oct 2006

Hey, this goes out to the most pacifistic person on this page. I was wondering what you thought of such martial arts self-defense tactics, such as Akido, that do not injure neither the opponent or yourself, and so the argument goes, preventing him from sinning by harming you by restraining him, just doing so without causing any permanent or violent injuries to the person (pressure points would be one method).

Isaiah writes about the Messiah as being "The Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).  Jesus calls upon all believers to become peacemakers, and says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God" (Matthew 5:9).  Paul writes, "For the anxious longings of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons [children] of God" (Romans 8:19).
