Christian Pacifism
Comments by James Hall 9 Jan 2002 - 1259
I'm glad folks I have heard from thus far share my belief that we should be outspoken about the killing of ALL "innocents."
Lately, I have been surprised that many churches in the U.S. are calling on their members to pray for the U.S. soldiers (which we SHOULD DO), but don't mention praying for the other innocent people who are being killed in the military action over there who are not Americans.
This is a radical thought: Jesus
told us to pray for our enemies. How many Christians
are praying for the Islamic radicals instead of venting hatred of them?
Blessings,
Jim
Isaiah writes about the Messiah as being "The Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus calls upon all believers to become peacemakers, and says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God" (Matthew 5:9). Paul writes, "For the anxious longings of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons [children] of God" (Romans 8:19).
