Thank you for your comments.
You make some very interesting comments, but fail to account for that passage in verse 21 where god says, "for the intent of man's heart is evil from his youth." What is you take on this passage? And, how is it not part of God's expression of mixed feelings?
If God is pleased with a thanksgiving offering, as you say, why would He immediately talk about human nature being evil? The two remarks seem to be in conflict. God's remark about humans being evil from their youth makes a lot more sense in the context of the statement if the offering was made for their sins.
