Thank you very much for your comments.
It's absolutely correct that God's grace surrounds us all, even when evil abounds around us, but this grace isn't cheap. God's grace is offered to all, but is seems to flow to those with a repentant heart. And as the RSV translation says, it even seems to include our innermost thoughts, which we believe is the point you were making.
