The Dilemma Caused by Being Vegetarian in a Christian Church
Comments by Michael Budkie - 7 Apr 2008

This is much the same as the animal rights movement's overall reception by society.

We are ridiculed and considered the crazies because it is much much easier to make jokes than to actually listen to what someone says and then be challenged by what they say.

The bottom line is that we threaten everyone's comfort level, whether it is researchers experimenting on animals, or the general public eating meat. Our choice of a different lifestyle implies that the more common way may actually be wrong, which would require change.

It is much easier to ridicule or avoid someone else than to consider changing your life.

Living by a higher standard implies that the lower standard is wrong, and it is easier to avoid the comparison than to question the status quo.
