The creation account is indeed, one that reiterates over and over again how God said everything was 'good'. His perfect plan included only goodness and no pain and suffering, until sin entered the world thru human rebellion and willfulness. There can be many arguments made for interpretation of 'domesticated' animals and what this means - but I think the important thing to note is that whether animals were wild or domesticated, they were treated respectfully by their fellow humans.
Again, bloodshed entered the world via sin. sin hurts all - humans and animals. To call us a 'failed experiment', however, I respectfully submit sounds disrespectful to God and what He said about us. To be made 'in His image' means that He deliberately and precisely created!
To be made in God's image means that we have a piece of Him that expresses itself in beauty. your example of music is a great example, but truly only one example of this part of Him that longs to break free in goodness toward others! :-)
Re: us always doing things at the expense of someone or something else, well, I would have to say that we are all 'guilty as charged' at some time or other in our lives. Although there are many folks who do good deeds and make right choices, ultimately we all mess up in one way or another because we have that broken piece of 'sin nature'.
We cannot maintain our goodness apart from God.
It has been said that the only difference between a Christian and a non-Christian is that a Christian recognizes his/her own depravity.
I believe this to be so, and that is why I believe I need a Savior, Jesus. I believe what the Bible teaches about Him - that because of Him, I can be forgiven. because of Him, someday all will be made right - the Bible says that there will be a new heaven and a new earth, the lion will lie down with the lamb, God's creatures will be praising Him, every tear will be wiped away. I do not know when that will happen, but it is encouraging and hopeful to me to know that I can depend on Someone other than myself or another broken human being with regards to bringing things back to being ultimately 'good' and right!
