Addiction experiments performed at the University of Minnesota causes primates to suffer so terribly that they succumb to exhibiting anything from self mutilation to complete mental breakdown.
Examples:
"...shows evidence of self-mutilation “did bite knee after observation.”""...“extremely thin, body condition is poor, severe alopecia . . . bruising on top of left ankle.”"
"...tongue partially gone"
On several occasions, researchers document: “NHP was observed by LACT ripping hair from the armpit area and chewing on the fur, each time he would grab a tuft of hair he would vocalize.”
