Ban the use of wild animals in circuses
Announcements

Nine major animal protection organisations have called on the Prime Minister to ban the use of wild animals in circuses. DEFRA recently announced that it cannot introduce a ban because of a lawsuit taking place in Austria.

There is no such lawsuit and DEFRA was forced to admit to a 'mistake' yet maintained its stance in a parliamentary debate this week.

The government is preparing to introduce a licencing scheme to 'regulate' the exploitation of wild animals in circuses following recent undercover investigations and overwhelming public support for a decisive ban.

The Captive Animals Protection Society and others are now working towards a full parliamentary debate and vote, and there is much support among MPs for this to take place.
